Going to the Chiropractor is a new experience for many of us. Maybe we've heard through a friend or have done some research online. It's possible that you are just fed up with living in pain and it's time to do something about it. In either case, your first visit to the chiropractor will really be about getting to know the chiropractor and discussing your history, current condition and goals.
As with any initial visit, you'll start by completing some new patient paperwork. Your first meeting with Dr. Kent will begin with a consultation, where she will review your health history and gather information about your present condition. Dr. Kent will then perform an examination to evaluate the nature of your problem(s). This examination generally consists of a series of basic physical tests, as well as as specialized chiropractic evaluation of spinal movement and posture. If necessary, Dr. Kent may recommend X-rays or diagnostic tests to obtain further information about the mechanics of your spine and the details of your condition. You will be able to discuss your concerns and expectations as well as have the chance to ask any questions you may have. Once this is complete, Dr. Kent and you, the patient, will take a look at the overall results of your conversation and the exams. Together, you'll come up with a plan of action which will begin when you are completely satisfied and ready to move forward. You should allow an hour for this initial appointment.
